Today, I want to talk about an awesome designer who creates clothes for everyone–not just a select few.
Casey Kurutz designs SlimPerfect Swimwear & Activewear. The slimming swimwear collection includes skirts, skorts, bikini tops, dresses, tankinis (with and without sleeves), and capris.
Casey resorted to wearing her husband’s shorts and t-shirts to the pool because she couldn’t find any stylish, full-coverage bathing suits. Menswear wasn’t exactly Casey’s “look,” so she decided to do something about the problem–not only for herself, but for every woman with poolside anxiety.
When she first designed her line of plus size swimwear, Casey had her family and a few friends over for the first viewing of the collection. Her father’s first reaction was, “They look nice, but who’s to say that your competitor’s don’t look just as good?” Casey happened to have one of her biggest competitor’s suits on hand, so she decided to show everyone the difference.
She slipped into the bathing suit and walked out for a brutally honest reaction from her father. “What have you been eating?!” he asked. No one had seen Casey’s body in swimwear for about five years since she’d had her children, and she knew her father wasn’t implying that she looked good. Next, she walked on in the SlimDress she designed. “Now I see what you’re talking about. Man, what a difference!”
her dad said, “Why didn’t you just put that on first?” Modeling swimsuits for your dad sounds pretty uncomfortable, but at least Casey proved her point.
The bottom line is, feeling self-conscious sucks. We’ve all been there. I guess it takes someone else who’s been there to know how to create the right look!
