Winter make up tips hot enough to melt the ice
By Chloe Nurik January 11

The winter blues are easy to get and hard to get rid of. To avoid feeling sad this season, start taking care of yourself from the get-go.

The perfect way to let your inner beauty shine is to refine your makeup techniques and pamper your skin. Take it from this fashionasta, a few fast moves with the make-up brush and you will look like a snow goddess!

From January to March, it is easy to get caught in the haze of whites and ivories. But, rather than blending in, it’s time to stand out. Draw attention to your favorite feature by using a bright color or a pretty pastel. For instance:

Experiment with ruby red lips this winter.

No, this isn’t a look that only Snow White can pull off. Au contraire! Bright lips add color to your whole face and keep you from looking washed out and pale.

Choose eye shadow that is dark or metallic!

Rich greens, browns, and silvers not only simmer, they are downright sultry! Additionally, this is a dressy look that is ah-may-ZING for parties! Try novel colors but stick with dark tones. They add depth and maybe even a little mystery…

Define your eyes!

This is the season to stand out and perfecting your eyes is the key to doing this. Buy some eyeliner pencils (especially glittery ones) and go to town! But remember, there is such a thing as too much eye makeup. Cat eyes? Cute! Looking more like a raccoon than a cat? No thanks!

Make your lashes work for you by investing in really great mascara!

This winter, follow one distinct rule for mascara: The darker, the better. Buy dark colors that will outline your eyes and really make them pop. Bam! Also, given the snow and rain during winter, it is best to choose waterproof mascara.

Also, don’t forget to protect your best asset by adding an eyelash conditioner. You can apply the conditioner at bedtime to help your lashes grow and get in shape. Or, you can apply the conditioner right before putting on your mascara. It provides a thickening base which creates a va-va-va-voom effect! Are those false eyelashes or just fabulous lashes? Keep them guessing, you Winter Vixen!

Don’t forget a little blush!

Blush is the key to achieving a colorful yet classy winter look. A little color on your cheeks will do wonders for your face. But just remember: everything in moderation. A natural look is always more flattering and little bit goes a long way.

Polish your nails with dark colors.

Plums, shimmery Browns, Blacks, and Forest Greens work really well. They will pull together your whole look and dazzle your friends. Also remember, a little bling never hurt anyone. Apply flowers, stripes, dots, and other designs for a truly unique look.

The best way to get through the grueling winter months is to hold your head high! This season, add a splash of color to your makeup. Define your eyes with a smoky hot shade or a shimmering metallic. Apply some color to your cheeks. Baby your skin to give it a healthy glow. Most importantly, make sure to have fun and experiment with new styles! Don’t let the winter doldrums hold back you back. Seize the moment…and the season…and let your awesomeness shine through.
