Exercise is a word that can make you cringe. If you’re like me, you may not be thrilled about working out in public because you’re a bit self conscious. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be active! There are plenty of ways to get your daily dose of exercise around your own home, and you can actually have fun doing it (Yes, exercise can be fun). Here are a few of my favorite ways to get moving at home:
1. Pop in a workout video, or follow along with one on YouTube. You can find some great workouts that will help you burn calories and build muscle without having to leave your room.
2. Chase your dog. Running around the house or going outside with your dog is a really fun way to not only help you get exercise, but also give your dog a workout! Just be careful not to run into anything–You could hurt yourself, and Mom might not be too happy if you break something.
3. Run up and down the stairs. Okay, this may sound awkward, but you can really work up a sweat just by walking up and down over and over.
4. Swim in your pool (if you have one). Swimming is great for keeping cool while you exercise. You can swim laps, doggie paddle, or try some of these moves from QualityHealth.com. Swimming with friends is fun, too!
5. Jump rope. Nope, it’s not just for kids. Try jumping rope while listening to music that pumps you up.
Do you ever exercise at home? What are your favorite ways to get moving at home?
