What are some things that put you in a good mood? Upbeat music? A hug? Watching someone wipe out on a patch of ice? (Now that’s just cruel!) According to studies, soon you’ll be able to add something else to your list of feel-good blues busters: Make up.
Marketing research company Mintel Beauty Innovation predicts mood-enhancing make up will be the hot beauty trend this year. “‘Mood Beauty’ creates a new beauty space, intersecting psychology and wellbeing with beauty products that offer psychological benefits and ingredients that act on people’s neurotransmitters,” says Nica Lewis, director of Mintel Beauty Innovation, “Expect manufacturers to make use of textures, temperatures or sounds that affect the mood, as well as innovations like make-up that ‘switches on and off.’”
The concept sounds pretty cool, but we’re hesitant to jump on the bandwagon. Putting on make up to feel better about yourself seems like a quick fix for those days when you just aren’t feeling pretty. What ever happened to embracing natural beauty?
Would you wear mood-enhancing make up?
