Rip It Up

Congratulations! You found Brooke Shields’ 80’s Calvin Klein jeans at the Salvation Army. But, damn they don’t fit quite right… If you have a little sewing know-how, it’s not a problem. Tear out the outside seams and insert a strip of fabric. Not only will those jeans fit better but they’ll look more you, too.

First, measure how wide you need the jeans to be and cut out a length of fabric to match the width and length (add about ½ of an inch or more of width and length for hemming and sewing).

Second, rip out the outside seams with a seam ripper, turn the jeans inside out, pin the fabric to the jeans, and sew up the sides. You can do this on both sides or just one. Then step back and ask yourself how it feels to wear your own designer jeans.
