Ramp Up

The important thing to remember is the 10% rule. If you gradually increase the amount of movement you make by 10% each week (as in our walking example from before), you’ll ramp up in a way that doesn’t overload your muscles or your mind.

Changing to a way of life that involves movement every day is a big deal, and the best way to measure your progress is by setting, and achieving, small goals along the way. The 10% rule is a great way to set goals every week. Before you know it you’ll have doubled the amount of moving you do and start seeing real changes in your energy level and your body! If it’s hard to get motivated by something that feels too high to reach, focus on the small goal of increasing your movement time every week and you’ll actually start to see change.
