Move Menu (Exercises)

Physical activity shouldn’t be boring or painful (otherwise you‘d never want to do it, right?) There are a ton of ways to get moving–from walking to dancing to water workouts. Even simple stretches will get your blood pumping. The key to having fun while being active is figuring out what moves work best for you.

Let’s start with the low-impact stuff. These are great if you’re just starting out, plus because they won’t put stress on your joints.

There are three types of low-impact moves.

  1. Weight-bearing moves like walking, climbing stairs and yoga combine the force of gravity with your own body weight to give you a good workout. Weight-bearing activities help you build strong bones and, unlike milk, won‘t give you an embarrassing white moustache.

  2. Non weight-bearing moves like water workouts and bicycling put less stress on your joints and feet because you’re not supporting your own weight. Opt for these if your feet and joints get sore easily.

  3. Lifestyle activities can be anything from walking the dog to climbing a flight of stairs–anything that gets you moving during your day.

Now let’s get more specific. What types of moves should you start with? Go to Exercises and find out!
