Goalgirl1 spills her secrets for success
By January 31
Since the moment we discovered fitsmi member goalgirl1, she’s been knocking our socks off with her positive attitude and tremendous success. After joining fitsmi, she began to make tons of healthy changes in her life, and has never felt better! We tracked down goalgirl1 and begged her to share her secrets for success. And lucky for us, she agreed to do a little interview…
So, goalgirl 1, what’s your favorite way to exercise?
Wow! My favorite way to exercise is online videos. Cassey Ho is great! She is very upbeat and fun. I also love the 80’s workouts. They are hilarious!
We love her too! Do you have a favorite healthy food to snack on after you’ve worked out?
Fruit. Plain and Simple! I love it, especially apples.
If you had to pick just one, who would you say is your healthy role-model?
Miss South Carolina (Bree Boyce)! I remember hearing a news story on her, and she said “I was always the fat girl with the pretty face.” I love that! But she was big and so am I. If she had the faith in herself to get healthy AND THEN become miss South Carolina, then I can do it.
In your “about me” section, you say that “every time I start dieting, I end up gaining weight.” Before you found fitsmi, what did a typical ‘diet’ look like for you? Why do you think your diets made things worse instead of better?
Well, a typical diet for me was not eating then exercising like CRAZY. I once lost 10 pounds in one week by doing it. But that wasn’t healthy at all. It made things worse because I would starve myself, and then I would miss the food SO much, I couldn’t stand it anymore. So then I would stuff myself.
What is your biggest challenge? Do you struggle with junk food, with getting motivated to exercise? Is it hard for you to find time to be healthy?
My biggest health challenge is eating way too much. I won’t just eat seconds; I will eat thirds and fourths. I won’t chew my food, I will end up swallowing it almost whole. Sometimes it is hard to find time because I get lazy and don’t want to do anything. Now, I make a schedule. What am I going to do today? When am I going to do it?
Making a schedule is a brilliant strategy! What’s your family environment like? Do your parents support your efforts to be healthy, or do you feel like you’re going at it alone?
My parents support me completely. My mom helps me pick out foods and she taught me some exercises that she used as an eighth grader! My dad will help make healthy things in the house also. We even made a homemade chicken noodle soup last week!
That sounds super delicious! We couldn’t help but notice that since joining fitsmi, you’ve had some fantastic success! Can you tell us what changes you started making in your life since becoming a fitsmi member?
Some are the small things like cutting out salt, drinking water, eating breakfast, going the long way, taking the stairs, and even stretching every day. I exercise six days a week now. My snacks are healthy. My bites are smaller. I have faith in myself even. fitsmi is like a health saver to me!
Yay! We’re doing a happy dance over here! How do you stay motivated to make healthy choices day after day?
I tell myself that I might be pretty, but I’m unhealthy. Your health is one of the greatest things you have, so you have to keep it, you know, healthy! I My brother asked me yesterday, “Are you making healthy choices today?” I have had it in my mind ever since.
What advice would you have for someone who’s new to fitsmi and who wants to learn about making healthy lifestyle choices?
My advice to her would be this: get educated. Learn about what is going on in your body. Learn the healthy ways to eat. Learn about the most fun ways to exercise out there because remember, the more fun it is, the more you will want to do it again. My encouragement to her would be; Stay strong, Live Healthy, Love Life. Stay strong against all obstacles in life, good or bad. Live healthy in what you eat and do. Love life, for we will not be here long.
As you can see, fitsmi member goalgirl1 is kind of a rockstar (We love you goalgirl!) Be sure to stop on by her me page, and add her as a friend.
