WHAT DO I WEAR?

Hot Days:
Make sure to wear synthetic materials. As with socks, cotton is NOT appropriate for exercising. Your base layer on a cold day and your only layer on hot day should always by a synthetic material.
On a hot sunny day, wear sunglasses! Not only will you look cool, but it’ll help cut down on squinting.
Drink water! Plan for an 8 ounce serving of water before your walk, 4 ounces for every 20 minutes you are walking, and 8 ounces after your walk.
Wear sunscreen and a hat.
Cold Days:
Layer! Three layers, with an acrylic base layer, a layer with some “loft” (sweater, sweatshirt, fleece, etc…) and a wind-proof shell, is the perfect clothing combination for a cold day. You can always remove a layer if the weather proves to be temperate and warm enough after you get moving.
Have a hat that covers your ears…again, synthetic fabrics are essential.
Bring gloves or mittens that are easy to compact and put into your pockets.
