Have you heard about Michelle Obama’s campaign against childhood obesity? It’s called Let’s Move, and the goal is to help your generation get healthy. Check out the video to get the details from the First Lady herself.
The campaign is just getting off the ground, but here are some changes that could affect you:
1. Printing nutrition labels on the front of packages, so the facts are in your face instead of hidden.
2. Revamping the food pyramid. Well, technically they’re revamping the government-run food pyramid website with new tools to help you make healthier choices when it comes to eating.
3. Getting healthier foods in schools. That means more nutrients and less sugar and fried food.
4. Building more grocery stores and farmer’s markets in low-income urban and rural neighborhoods to eliminate food deserts.
5. Encouraging kids to be more active by updating the President’s Physical Fitness Challenge, doubling the number of Presidential Active Lifestyle Awards in schools, and collaborating with professional athletes on public service announcements.
Pretty exciting stuff, right?
