Got Resolutions?
By January 1

Here at Fitsmi, we’re all for setting goals and making positive changes any day of the year, but there’s something about that first day of the new year that can really light a fire under your butt, don’tcha think?

Lately, the blogosphere has been abuzz with all kinds of tips and ideas for becoming even more awesome than you already are in 2010. Here are some words of wisdom from our favorite bloggers:

“It’s silly to believe that wanting to be healthy will always overpower mom’s homemade lasagna, which is why rewards and bribes are key. Set weekly goals along with small rewards to stay on track, but try to avoid too many high-calorie rewards.” -Karolina at NeverSayDiet

“If you’re into video games, try the Wii fit, take a walk with a friend (or the dog) a few nights a week or go sledding.” -Dana at Healthy Eats

“I no longer make resolutions for the New Year because the very word implies failure if you don’t deliver what you’ve ‘promised.’ Instead, I think about what I want to accomplish in the coming year, but even more important than what I want to accomplish is how I want to “be.” How do I want to feel every day? What do I want to reflect to others?” -Dara at Psychology Today

“Unlike a resolution, setting goals requires a clear objective and steps to achieve it. Don’t just say ‘I wanna lose weight.’ Instead, set a tangible goal … Then create a plan to get you there.” -Tyra Staff at Tyra.com

“This year, I invite you to OWN your health … Until you can love yourself, you’ll never affect lasting positive change in your life.” -Lauren at College Candy

“Instead of promising to stop doing something, fill your New Year’s resolutions list with things you want to start doing, whether it’s signing up for a class or seeing friends more.” -Self.com

“I’ve always kind of loved the concept of making life-changing goals for the coming year, just like I love spring cleaning. (I’m a little nutty that way.) But, a few years ago I stopped making hard-to-achieve resolutions and settled for doable things–mostly things I could work on throughout the year to be happier, healthier and a better person.” -Sarah at Glamour’s Vitamin G blog

“You want to get in shape, so skip the elevator and take the stairs. Your butt will thank you later.” -Cosmogirl.com

What goals did you set for yourself this year?
