7 small eating tweaks that make a big difference
By March 1

If you’re serious about getting healthy, say goodbye to everything delicious. It’s time to start making humungous changes to how you eat. From now on, no dessert, ever! Only salads! And snacking? Fuhgeddaboudit!

Yeah, right. If you want to make a lasting healthy change, it has to be easy and fun, right? Otherwise, we’ll be back to our old habits in no time at all. Lucky for us, there are a ton of easy, pain-free tweaks we can make to how we eat that produce some serious results! Don’t believe us? Add a few of our fave “Eat” changes to your fitsmi Change Machine, and find out just how easy getting healthy can be…

Eat breakfast (Every day if you can!)

It may not be your favorite meal, but eating a full breakfast can really jumpstart your day. So ditch that bowl of Coco Puffs and try some real food. Having a well-rounded breakfast will give you energy all morning long, and keep you from gorging yourself once lunch rolls around.

Pace Yourself

Unless you’re in a hot dog eating contest, finishing your meal shouldn’t be a race. Slow down; take time to enjoy every bite! It takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to send signals to your brain that it’s full—so if you eat your food too quickly, you could end up overeating.

Water Water Everywhere

Instead of soda, grab a tall glass of ice water. If you can’t live without the bubbles try some fancy mineral water.

Snack in the kitchen, not on the couch

Mixing TV and snacking can be a recipe for disaster, or at least for some serious overeating, also known as “Mindless Eating.” Pledge to pay attention to your snack, and you’ll eat less and enjoy it more!

Scale down your tableware

Believe it or not, using a smaller dish when you’re snacking can help you eat less. Portion out how much you want to eat ahead of time, then eat from a smaller plate or bowl to make the portion seem bigger.

Split it with a friend

You can have your cake (or Snickers, cupcake, or burrito) and eat it too. Just share with a friend! You’ll get your fix and eat only half as much as you would on your own.

Treat time? Be particular.

If you’re going to occasionally indulge in some chips or a piece of candy, make sure it’s your favorite, and don’t settle for anything less.
