Really, KFC?
By April 19

Substituting fried chicken for bread on a sandwich is like substituting bricks for a raft when you’re drowning. That’s why we thought Colonial Sanders was pulling a belated April Fool’s prank when KFC debuted their new Double Down on April 12th. The bacon and cheese “sandwich” is held together by two greasy slabs of chicken and it is, in fact, for real.

According to KFC’s website, the Double Down has 540 calories (Opting for grilled chicken instead of fried will save you about 80). But one source claims the calorie count could actually be closer be over 1,000.

Either way, we give this sorry excuse for a sandwich two thumbs down. Not only does it look like a ticket straight to diarrhea-ville, it’s lacking important ingredients (Hey colonel, ever heard of vegetables?). Plus it’s packed with 1,380 milligrams of sodium. That’s 60% of the USDA’s recommended daily dose!

We definitely won’t be ordering this pile of meat anytime soon. How about you?
