Weight Management Secret #1: Keep a Food Diary
By Shelly March 26

Forget all those diets that promise weight loss in a flash. The easiest way of watching what and how much you eat is through a food diary.

It sounds almost too simple, but the act of writing down everything you eat, including water, will get you more aware of what’s going into your body. It’ll help prevent overeating and even reduce bad food choices because you’ll have to see it later on paper. And, as an added bonus, it doesn’t cost a cent!

To start, grab an old notebook and start jotting down:

  • What you ate
  • How much you ate
  • What time you ate

It’s a little hard to get used to in the beginning, but within a few days it becomes second nature. Instead of focusing on changes in your weight, look at the things you’re eating. Are you getting enough fruits and vegetables? Are you drinking enough water? Having too much soda? Swap in some healthier things and within time you’ll feel great.

Do any of you already keep a food diary?
